Week of 10/18/21:

  • Oct 18th, Oregon State University at 9:00; Oct 20th University of Portland at 10:00;Oct 21st Whitman College at 8:00; Oct 22nd UC Santa Barbara at 9:00.  Also, Friday Southern Oregon University will be here at 10:00 and Pacific Northwest College of Art will be here at 11:00.  All visits will be held in the College and Career Center.  See Amy Paul with any questions.
  • Ken Neill will be the guest speaker for Career Exploration.  He's a successful carpenter and cabinet maker.  Ken will be speaking on Tuesday, Oct 19th in the College and Career Center at 12:10 during Tutorial.
  • Bike to School Day is next Thursday, Oct 21st.  If you bike to school you will get a free breakfast.  Make sure to ride your bike to school!
  • Oct 19th is the last girls varsity volleyball game against SLV.  The theme is black-out: dress in all black and show up to show your support.
  • Covid PCR testing today is between 11:30 and 12:30 in the Student Union.
  • Come to Ms Silva's classroom C108 today at lunch for Model United Nations!  There will be a mock debate.
  • Anyone interested in wrestling, there will be a wrestling meeting at lunchtime on Oct 22nd in the wrestling room.
  • Junior class shirts are in! Please come pick your shirts up during lunch 10/18-10/22.  Come to the student story with $15.
  • Need some help with those college applications? Come to the next College Application Workshop on Thursday, Oct 21st in from M10 between 12:10 and 3:30!  Stop in during your free 6th or get permission from your Tutorial teacher. See you there!
  • Send in any pics of carved pumpkins in to the svhs asb instagram account.  Winners of the contest will be showcased at Haunted House.  Last day to send in pics is 10/20.
  • Sophomores have a fundraiser this Wednesday, at Penny Ice Creamery.  Come and say you are supporting SVHS's Class of 2024 anytime before 11pm.
  • Volleyball and school photos are in.  Come to the front office to pick yours up.

  • Are you looking for a job? Right now Aunt Lali's Ice Cream Truck, Ross, Redwood Glen Camp, Starbucks and Zinnia's are all hiring.  Come into the College and Career Center and look on the "Job Opportunities Board: for more information.
  • Seniors! Check your Naviance account for available scholarships.  Right now there are 2 available and one of them anyone can apply for!  Don't miss out on college money.
  • Tryouts for girl's soccer are going to be Nov 1-5, 3:30-5:00pm at the turf field.  Hope to see you there!
  • Next week we have college visits from University of Alabama, University of San Francisco, USC, Willamette and Saint Mary's.
  • Softball players conditioning workouts are scheduled for Thursday, Oct 21st 3:30-4:30.  Please meet at the softball field.
  • Boys soccer tryouts start Nov 1st at 4:30.  All athletes must register and upload physicals to FamilyID before they can try out.

Week of 10/11/21:

  • Oct 12th is the last day to sign up for the PSAT.
  • Oct 11th is National Coming Out day! This day is dedicated to raise awareness of the civil rights of the LGBTQ community. This awareness day promotes an environment where everyone can live openly and honestly! Come celebrate with the SAGA club today at lunch in room C214.
  • Oct 12th is the last day to sign up for the SVHS Dodgeball Tournament.  Come by the table at lunch by the student union,
  • Students participating in on campus COVID testing: due to the Code Red Training, tests will not occur during tutorial.  Please come to the student union during 4th period. Also, we will no longer be sending passes out to excuse you for testing.  Come to the front office to get a testing sticker for your ID card.  No testing Friday since it is a non-student day.

  • Senior quotes and baby photos are due on Friday. Check your Google Classroom to see where to submit yours.

  • Come support your Falcon Cross Country team Thursday verses Santa Cruz.  They are one of the best teams in the state!
  • Mock Model UN Conference in Ms Silva's room during lunch 10/6.
  • Seniors - Counselors will be in room M10 during Thursday Tutorial to support you with college essay writing.  Please get permission from your tutorial teacher to join us.  Don't forget your laptop!
  • There is a home football game this Friday right after school at 3:45.  Come show your support!
  • Next week on Wed, Oct 13, Yearbook will be taking Senior Sibling photos so if you are a Senior with at sibling at SVHS, meet us at the student store at break.  This is the last chance to be in the yearbook.

Week of 9/27/21:

  • The Mock Trial Club invites you to attend their first official meeting during lunch, Sept 29th in room M6.
  • It is Banned Book Week in the Library. Stop by and see the many books that have been banned around the world, including Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You, which si the 2nd most banned book of the year.  Books unite us, censorship divides us.
  • Chapman University will be in the College and Career Center at 11am on Sept 30th.
  • There is a Fashion Club meeting at lunch in Dewey's room C109 on Oct 1st.  Come to sign up or learn more!
  • Seniors! If you ordered a class shirt or crew neck, they will be available for pick up at lunch in the student store Wed-Fri.  This is the last time to pick them up.
  • A new club called "Unity Starts Here" launches today (Oct 1). The goal of the club is to encourage activism, provide students with resources they can use to fight discrimination and offer students a safe place to share their stories.  You can learm more about Unity Starts Here today at lunch in the quad.

Week of 9/20/21:

  • College visits this week we have New York Film Academy coming on Thursday, 9/23, at 1 in the College and Career Center.
  • Anyone interested in playing girls soccer, pre-season conditioning starts Monday, September 27th from 3:30-5:00pm on the turf.  It will be every Monday and Tuesday.  Hope to see you all there!
  • The first general lunch meeting for Haunted House is this Thursday, 9/23, at lunch by the attendance office.  The last day to register is tomorrow.  Go to svhaunt.org/register
  • Congratulations to the Falcon's Lady Golfers who were victorious last week over Santa Cruz and San Lorenzo Valley.  Freshman Maisey Chard and Junior Elana McGrew played well posting scores of 31 over 6 holes at the challenging Delavega's golf course on Thursday.  Today, 9/21, the team travels to Aptos for an away match at the Seascape golf course.  Play well Ladies!
  • Seniors that have siblings at SVHS, please meet in front of the student store on Monday, 9/20, at lunch to get your photo taken for the senior sibling yearbook page.
  • Auditions for the fall play, CLUE! are next Monday, 9/20 and Tues 9/21 starting at 3:30 in the Student Union.  If interested in auditioning, please memorize a one minute monologue and sign up for an audition spot on Ms. Kannegaard's webpage.  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. K or Sydney Peterson. Break a leg!
  • Food Truck Fridays needs help on Sept 24th.  Music at the Park needs help on Sept 26th. And, Tiny Paws Pugs Rescue needs help with their adoption day on October 10th at Roaring Camp.  Go to the school website under Community Service to learn more about these opportunities.
  • All students interested in attending the homecoming dance must either have their COVID vaccine on firle with the school or test negative next Tuesday or Friday 9/21 and 9/24 in our PCR test site.  The dance is open to SVHS students only.
  • SVHS will be hosting the PSAT on Saturday, Oct 16th beginning at 7:45 am.  Due to limited supply, sign-ups will begin for 11th graders only beginning on Monday, September 13th until Monday, Oct 11th.  10th graders can sign up on a first come, first served basis beginning on Wednesday, September 29th until Monday, Oct 11th.  To sign up, bring $25 cash or check (made out to SVHS) to Leigh Jones in the front office between 7:15am and 3:15pm.  Sorry no refunds given in the case of cancellation.

Week of 9/7/21 and 9/13/21:

  • Students please wear your masks when ordering food in the snack line.

  • Picture make up day will be Tuesday, Sept 14th at 11:45-1:30 in the white tent by the gym.
  • First Model UN meeting, Sept 15th in Ms Silva's room, C108 at lunch.
  • We have our first Career Day next Tuesday, Sept 21st during Tutorial in the College and Career Center. This month the highlighted career is masonry.  Jesse Carrington will be here to share with you what it is like to be a stone mason and build things with your hands.
  • The Marines will be here to go over their college scholarship program at 9:00am in the College and Career Center.
  • PuraVida bracelets are available in school colors now in the library at $10 each or 2 for $15.  Quantities are limited, so stop by the library to pick yours up today.

Week of 8/30/21:

  • College visits are starting next week! Tuesday, September 7th the University of Oregon will be here at !1:00am. Wednesday, September 8th the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising will be here at 10:00am. Thursday, September 9th Westmont will be here at 10:00am.  All college visits are held in the College and Career Center.  See Amy Paul with questions.
  • Congratulations to the Freshmen candidates who ran for office.  Here are the results: Class Treasurer is Bobby Arcangeli, Class Secretary is L Watson, Class Vice President is Ava Morrison and Class President is Ashley Haver.
  • Girls Soccer:  Meeting September, 14th at lunch (12:50pm) in the gym

  • Salvation Army: The Salvation Army Camp is hiring. They will be in the quad at lunch 8/31 and 9/1 so stop by to learn more.

Week of 8/23/21:

  • Friday, 8/27 is the Welcome Back and Fall Sports Rally on the Football Field.  We will be on a Rally Bell Schedule for the day.
  • Chipotle Fundraiser this Saturday from 5-9pm. Be sure to mention that you are from SVHS!
  • Pick up your student IDs at lunch at the student store.
  • Seniors- if you are interested in doing Homecoming Lipsync or float, DM the svhs2022 Instagram.
  • Club Presidents - Please come to room C302 at break on August 27th for an informational meeting about the Club Fair!  It is very important to attend if you want to grow your club!
  • Remember to wear Maroon and Gold on Fridays for a chance to win Falcon Check.
  • Model UN is meeting Wednesday, 8/25 at lunch in C108 to vote on leadership positions.

Week of 8/16/21:

  • Seniors will be selling tickets for the chance to win your very own parking spot at the student store during lunch.  Each ticket is $5 and for every 5 you buy you get one free.
  • Boys Basketball - all prospective basketball players should attend a meeting in the gym at 12:50pm on August 19th.
  • Yearbook- Yearbook wants your fun summer photos! Use the hashtag SVHSYearbook to have your summer photos in the yearbook.  Or, email them to jroot@scottsvalleyusd.org
  • Girls Golf - Meet and greet Tuesday, August 24th at 3:05pm in front of the gymnasium
  • Club Presidents - Please come to room C302 at break on August 27th for an informational meeting about the Club Fair!  It is very important to attend if you want to grow your club!
  • Polar Plunge - anyone interested, please contact Ms Fisher via email. This is a great way to raise money for the Special Clympics.
  • New Student Pizza Lunch - Friday, August 20th at lunch. All transfer students from other districts meet on the field for free pizza and to meet new faces.
  • Model UN - New and continuing Model UN members come to Ms Silva's room, C108 on Wednesday, August 18th during lunch to run for and vote on club positions.
  • Student ID cards- available for pickup in the student store all week at lunch.  If you still need to purchase an ASB seal you can do so by seeing Ms. Fisher in room 302 or at the student store when you pick up your card.
